5 Best IELTS Preparation Courses in Solo
Solo (Surakarta) has grown into a real option for IELTS preparation, no longer limited to Jakarta or Yogyakarta. Whether you need a scholarship score for LPDP, a university offer abroad, or a workplace requirement, here are five current, verified options in and around the city, complete with addresses and contact numbers.
1. IELC (Interactive English Language Centre) Solo
IELC was founded in 2006 and has since built up a 4.9-star rating across thousands of Google reviews. Its IELTS classes run one-on-one, so the material and pacing are built around each student’s current level and target score, and it also offers a pre-IELTS track for students who aren’t yet comfortable with everyday English. Teaching follows the CEFR framework using coursebooks from Cambridge University Press, Pearson, Macmillan, and Oxford University Press, and IELC operates as an official offsite IELTS test centre appointed by IDP in Solo, so students can prepare and sit the test through the same network. A free consultation is available by WhatsApp or video call before enrolling.

2. ELTI Gramedia Solo
ELTI has operated in Indonesia since 1981 and joined Kompas Gramedia in 1989, giving it one of the longest track records of any English institute in the country. The Solo branch is listed on IIEF’s official TOEFL ITP schedule as an active exam centre, and its Academic English and IELTS Preparation programme has been part of the curriculum since 2013.

3. Eduraya Solo Raya
Eduraya is a private tutoring platform based in Solo since 2018, matching students one-on-one with tutors who themselves hold IELTS scores of 7.5 or above. Classes run at Rp125,000 per session and can be face-to-face at a location of your choosing or online, which suits people juggling work or school schedules. According to the platform, 85% of students reach their target band (6.5–7.5) for LPDP, Australia Awards, Chevening, or postgraduate study abroad.
Coverage:
Solo Raya (Surakarta, Sukoharjo, Karanganyar, Boyolali, Sragen, Klaten, Wonogiri) — tutors travel to a location you arrange, or teach online; there is no single walk-in campus address.

4. UPT P2B UNS (Language Centre, Universitas Sebelas Maret)
UPT P2B is the official language centre of Universitas Sebelas Maret, open to the general public and not just students, and it runs an IELTS Prediction test alongside private IELTS coaching packages. Private classes are available offline at the campus or online, in blocks of 16 meetings with a practice simulation and e-certificate included, so it suits people who want an academically-grounded, university-run option rather than a commercial course.

Note: registration for training runs on a quota system (a class starts once 25–30 people sign up), so build in some lead time before your target test date.
5. Lister
Lister is a nationwide online platform, headquartered in Jakarta, that pairs students with certified tutors — including native speakers and graduates of overseas universities — through live Zoom classes. For students in Solo who want a structured IELTS course without adding a physical location to their routine, Lister offers a scored guarantee track (aiming for band 7.5) and flexible scheduling agreed directly with the tutor.

A quick note before you commit
Course fees, schedules, and promotions change often, so confirm current pricing and available class times directly with each institution before enrolling. If you’re preparing for a scholarship deadline, it’s also worth asking whether the course includes a mock test and detailed band-score feedback, since that’s usually what separates a course that improves fluency from one that actually moves your IELTS score.
